I replaced my clutch SLAVE and upon trying to bleed it with a vacuum, I noticed that the gauge was dropping; losing pressure. My bleeder valve was bolted tight, but still losing pressure.
I tested every linkage point while sealing the end with my finger and there was ABSOLUTELY NO leaking of air or loss of pressure.
I was able to test it further up until the bleeder screw.
I unthreaded the bleeder screw completely off the slave assembly and basically did another bench test, pumped the vacuum and everything was fine. No dropping gauges.
as soon as I thread the bleeder screw back on the slave assembly tight, pump the vacuum, it begins to drop and lose pressure.
due to this, I was unable to bleed my clutch After several hours
im assuming this is the culprit.
now I can’t pinpoint my problem.
I don’t see any leaks on the lines, I’ve fed the reservoir with fluid to maintain proper levels. No new air is being introduce through there.
Faulty “new” slave? Or good slave but bad master? Would it allow air in the system again if the master was bad?
One mechanic said I could have installed the clutch disc in the opposite orientation. Which is why my clutch does not disengage.
The feel to my pedal feels hard and feels like it’s pressurized but it definitely does not disengage the clutch.
I’m leaning to hydraulic.
lots and lots of air bubbles thru tubing when attempting to bleed.
A bunch of nothing 😩😩😩😩
Where did you buy the slave from?
@kester
I got a lifetime warranty slave from autozone
All manual transmission vehicles REQUIRE a pilot bearing. All of them. If the externally mounted slave cylinder is not bleeding properly, it is probably defective and needs to be replaced.
Open the slave bleeder valve and go push on the clutch pedal. If there is a puddle, you know it's good and you need to look elsewhere for the problem. Is this the kind where the slave and throw out bearing are one piece inside the bell housing or is it a separate, external slave cylinder?
With the bleeder open, pressing the pedal, it does excrete fluid from the slave.
Apparently, I’ve done my research, and this vehicle (2006 tC) does NOT require a pilot bearing
The slave is external and mounted outside on the tranny .
The fluid is very very dirty, dark fluids.
I loaded new brake fluid , it went in clear.
I’mgoing to change the master and hope for the best
