Good Stick Shift Coupe Recomendations

Hello, I am in the market to get a brand new manual transmission coupe. I want something small / 2 door like and wanted to get the public opinion on what is a good reliable coupe that has some zip to it. I was looking at the Toyota GR86 / Subaru BRZ but I am not sure if the boxer 4cyl. is reliable enough after 100k miles as I plan on going on a lot of road trips by myself or with one other person in it.

I looked at the Mazda MX-5 but I feel I am 6ft tall and not sure if it would be comfortable enough being it too tight and compact for road trips but Ive seen plenty of videos of others doing it.

I wish honda offered something with a 2 door that was not so large but they only offer sedans. IDK I'm looking for some options that I haven't thought of yet.

Budget is around $30k

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thank you!

Not really a lot of options in those categories.  You mention 2 good ones.  The BRZ/86 is fine for 150-200k if you maintain it properly.  The Miata would be reliable, but yeah, it’s tight.  You’d have to sit in it to decide if you could live with it.  Unfortunately, it looks like the Accord and Civic coupes are gone.

I’ll get roasted, but the most comfortable coupe for a 6 footer is probably a Mustang.  I’d guess reliability would be a question, but with a manual it’s probably not terrible.

Mustang manuals have been made in China since 2018 I believe.

I think that I will have to go the route of trying both the miata and the BRZ/86 to see what I like and which ones are best.

The mustang is a nice option I just am weary of Fords quality control in the past few years plus the base Mustang doesn't come with a manual which is a bummer.

Thank you for the opinion though.

Slim pickin’s these days. You already listed the top contenders.

My personal choice in that category would either be the BMW M2, but it doesn’t fall in the price range, nor is it a recommendation.

The recommendation would be the Civic Type R or the Integra Type S, BUT, they are four door and they are more than the price range.

There really isn’t much choices when it comes to a coupe, a manual, and especially a coupe and a manual.

It seems like that is the case with slim pickins. Although the M2 would be awesome to get and have so much fun in that's most likely out of the range for budget. But what about a standard 2 series manual? Ive seen some coupes and manuals before I just don't know if they make them anymore in manuals.

Thank you for the recommendations though.

I don’t think they make the regular 2 series in a manual anymore. I think the previous generation had a manual.
