Hand me down or buy used?

My dad has a 2016 Honda Accord EX-L with 90k miles (mostly highway) and he maintained it excellently. It also has some pretty cool features like +nav and +honda sensing. Should I opt for him to give me his car or should I spend my budget of $15k and look for a used car (the one I was looking at and was willing to buy got sold).

If you can get the car for free then take it. Save your money for other things or an upgrade in the future.

@cjbman

I worded that poorly, he said he'll spend a budget of around 15k for a used car** I help him out at his small business whenever he needs me so he said he'd do that for me.

He's trying to help you accept the deal. If you have bad or no credit and walk into a dealership they will try to get you with every trick in the book. They will sell you a car with a 20% interest rate and expect it to be repoed within 6 months.

Accept the help and offer informed opinions on what car to buy.

Hand me down. Get it detailed and it will seem like a new one.
