I told my friend to get a lexus after his leaese is up, to which he responded....

"No..... I think lexus is like the worst car brand. My dad wants a new bmw."(He doesn't know anything about cars)

I kept trying to correct him by saying lexus is one of the most relaible, but he kept saying, "No..... It's a pretty bad brand."

I don't know why he would want a new bmw over a lexus, but he knows absolutely nothing about cars.

Sometimes people are just determined to learn the hard way.

What was the context that he said Lexus was a bad brand?  Was it in terms of reliability or driving dynamics or something else?  In terms of driving dynamics, BMW has the edge  especially when it comes to their M-performance cars.  But if he was referring to reliability and durability over time, well not sure where he got that from.  Some people have bad experiences with their Toyota/Lexus and then assume the whole brand is just bad.

BMWs look and drive better than Lexus cars. Your friend probably didn't care about 20 year maintenance and repair costs.

If he's bound and determined to get a Bimmer, then he should lease that one too. But sometimes you can't fix xxupid.

If he wants a BMW, he should lease it rather than buying it cause they’re endless money pits. There’s definitely nothing wrong with Lexus’ reliability wise, but Lexus’ also cost a premium.

It's either your dad doesn't know about cars or he likes technology and features than reliability. Tell your dad to lease it so your dad doesn't have to deal with repairs. He can lease as many times as he wants.

it was my friends dad

Can't bash ignorance. Really. Common folks only care about cosmetics and what not. And if they got the money to do so Ehh, why not. Maybe he sees the lexus as a ugly car and doesn't give a crap about reliability.

For new BMW as long as the water pump is done vamos is taken care of, service is maintained and money is not an issue, then it doesn't really matter what car you get at that point as a commoner no? Plus BMW is typically problem free untill 75k-100k miles most of the time, anything after is what causes issues. But if they seem like the type of people to get a new car every couple of years it wouldn't matter right? You could also go for a caddy or even a benz or porche. For me, I would get a brand new benz if I could afford one lol. I like the way they drive and don't need a speed hunter. I've sat in those 150k+ cars at my old shop and like the creature comforts lol. Never saw a bmw or benz past 50k miles most of the time.
