Heating up at idle

I have a 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD w/ 120,000 miles. When idling for 3 - 5 minutes with the A/C on. the temp gauge goes all the way to hot  and the A/C stops blowing cold. Could this be the thermostat or something more serious?

While AC is working, both fans should be operating. If not, that's why you're overheating and then the AC cuts out. It'll stop working if you're in overheated condition

A/c isn't working because the car is overheating. Could be your thermostat is stuck closed. More than likely it's your cooling fans on the radiator. Check your coolant too. Could also be your water pump going out.

Thanks
