Sometime last year, my odometer read about 268,000 kilometres before one morning I started it and it had reset itself to 0. The battery hadn't been dead or weak before I started it or else the radio clock would have also reset itself as it has always done before. Is my concern warranted or am I just overthinking this?
I work with a bunch of mechanics, fortunately, but none of them in all their experiences (young and old alike) had ever heard of ANY electric odometer readings doing this and all of them struck this to be very odd.

I would disconnect your battery cables and wait for 10 mins and reconnect. Hopefully resetting your computer will fix this problem. Seems to be common in Chevy's from that period.
Chevy and GM are not known for well made electronics lol tons of problems with both of them.
I've never heard of this problem. You're sure you weren't looking at the trip counter?
