Honda broke my car, year wait for a part

Honda is [expletive deleted] me over , and I need your expert advice , they "fixed" my car in October, and literally the second I picked it up from them , I noticed a really bad sound whenever I turned , that definitely wasn't there when I dropped it off , a month later when i asked them about it , they said it was the steering knuckles that had failed and that it was no longer safe to drive until I get new ones . A front left steering knuckle for a 2015 Honda Civic EXL Sedan with 17 inch wheels is apparently impossible to find anywhere. I've been waiting on a new part from Honda since Nov 15th. Originally it was supposed to ship from the factory to the dealer on July 5th. Then it became September 5th and now it's Oct 31st. I drive for a living. Our back up vehicle, that's supposed to live in the garage other then the 2 days a year we go camping should really no longer be driven. No headlights. No AC. Not highway capable and a top speed of 20mph on a flat Road and a top speed of 5mph if I'm lucky when I'm going uphill. This is what I'm driving around in every [expletive deleted] day. I'm beyond at my wits end . Any [expletive deleted] help and or advice would be beyond greatly appreciated. Please and thank you so much! I'm in desperate need of help here and have no idea what to [expletive deleted] do!

You didn't mention why the car was initially brought in for repairs. Since the car is out of warranty it was a mistake taking it to a dealer for service. Dealers are the most expensive option, are very prone to upselling (that is, ripping you off), and frequently don't have the best mechanics because they are not paid or treated well.

It is very unusual for a steering knuckle to fail unless subject to a severe impact such as running into a curb at speed or an accident. Since it's not really a wear item, if a new part cannot be sourced it would make sense to look for a used one from a compatible Civic that was totalled from something other than a front-end collision. A quick search at car-part.com  (a search engine for junkyards) brings up quite a few listings for that part.

I would look for a good independent mechanic and have the car towed there for evaluation and repair. It's obvious the dealer is not really interested in doing anything but raiding your wallet.

In the meantime if you post a new topic with details about your backup vehicle we may be able to help with that. A diagnostic scan for codes and data would be a good place to start.
