Hey guys,

i found a Honda jazz 2017 1.3lt 102hp standard transmission with 85k km on.

it’s 1st hand and from a Honda dealership with also 1 year warranty which can extend for a very little amount of money.

I saw the service history and the oil changes where at 22.385km, 44.300km, 52.000km and 72.000. (At least according to the book)

Service and inspection where every year at honda as expected.

should i trust this car? What do you think?

Also the price is 11.350€ after negotiations

That's 22,385km (13,909 mile) interval for the first oil change, and a 21,915 km (13,617 mile) interval on the 2nd oil change?

Looking at the manual for this car, with the recommended ridiculous 12.5k mile servicer interval, It's a bit suspicious that the 1st and 2nd services were late by 2,000km, while the 3rd and 4th were early 8,000km.

But my main worry is the pretty sparse service internal and how it began to be serviced more frequently after the 2nd service...

If you can somehow confirm that the engine is sludge free and that it doesn't burn any oil - (given that the price is right, I'm unaware what's the acceptable price for a Honda Fit/Jazz in Germany) then from a mechanical standpoint - sure.

If it's in good shape currently, and you will maintain it properly (<10,000km between oil changes) these can last for a very long time.

In Germany you can buy a brand new base model Toyota AyGo X (the next generation of what you have) for €15,890.00

Although the brand new AyGoX is shorter than the previous generation Jazz having a smaller boot and rear seat area, It's wider and has the same hight.

Although I don't think that the previous generation (or any generation) Jazz is significantly bigger or more capable than your older generation Toyota AyGo anyway, it's replacing one small economy car with another - What about that Suzuki Vitara you looked at previously? Or the Corolla 1.8L hybrid? both of those are excellent much plusher cars.

Vitara and Corolla are unfortunately out because I’m trying somehow to reduce the cost.

I like aygo but the 1.0lt engine just pushes me away cause I’m planning to use motorways often.

Jazz seems to be so comfortable and i like that.

There’s a also a yaris 2019 1.5lt in the bigger picture but with 2k € more and i wish it could be at the same cost with the jazz.

Of course it has much fewer km on and the Toyota care program is a gem!

Oh, that's also a great car.

Personally I'm not a fan of Toyota's 1.5L, they can burn oil and they do have a tendency to stretch chains - but with good maintenance (<10,000km interval) and appropriate driving they can go for a while.

Note that the CVT is weak but as far as the rest of the car, with a manual (better to find a 6 speed for highway use) - it's pretty great. Some of these came with a 4 speed conventional automatic and that's great (if you can find one)

Scotty recently reviewed a European version Yaris with 250,000km (150,000 miles) - and it seems to still be in perfect condition.

But unlike that Jazz with (INSANE) 22k km (12.5k miles) between services,

Toyota, as far as I'm aware, permits at most 16k km (10k miles) so it's probably better maintained.

bigger picture

Well, the Euro Yaris (Toyota Vitz) is 5cm shorter, has the exact same width, has a roof that's lower by about 2.5cm.

So the Yaris is very slightly smaller, they're generally very similar.

2k € more (...) much fewer km

well it's also 2 years newer too.

I like aygo but the 1.0lt engine just pushes me away

Well, the new AyGo has the same Daihatsu engine as the AyGo has had since 2005, with the addition of 2kw (to the higher power version, 5kw to the lower power version)

The AyGo is pretty the same car as it always have been, just without the option to buy it with a Citroen/Peugoet logo (as the C1 and 108 are both just rebranded AYGOs) and offering a smooth CVT with unknown reliability, instead of the AMT that shifts like a drunk driving student with half decent reliability.

Other then that both the Toyota Yaris and Honda Jazz (ASSUMING THE ENGINE IS GOOD) is also great, assuming you're sure it's bigger enough that it'd make sense to upgrade from your current car.

I didn’t know about those issues with the 1.5lt of Toyota.
The 1.5lt of the eu yaris engines are made in Poland. Are they excactly same engines with the rest of the world?

The Aygo is a really small car in everything. The engine is small, motorway driving feels uncomfortable, space is soo limited. It’s a brilliant city car though.

Suzuki also has great medium size cars (for the European standards) like swift and ignis with the 1.2 dualjet engines and some of them mild hybrid and of course standard transmissions. They’re also in decent prices and with decent equipment.

Another nice choice seems to be the Mazda 2 with the 1.5 skyactiv and 90hp

Beyond any known problems inherent in that model, only a pre-purchase inspection by a good mechanic can determine whether a particular used car is trustworthy.

still is a decent engine.

I'm pretty sure it is.

Although I think that the Chinese version (used by GEELY and Great Wall) might be weaker.

swift (...) with the 1.2 dualjet engines

Yep, the new generation swift is a very nice car! and the engine is definitely solid when serviced frequently enough.

And the 1.2L continues to be a great engine, if you're fine with the 89 horsepower output on the 1.2L

Generally Suzuki Quality is high nowadays, not as great as Toyota but definitely on par (or better) than small Mazdas.

Another car worth mentioning is the Suzuki Baleno, it's not as pretty as the Swift (due to aerodynamics) but it has the 1.2L same engine, and also offers a manual.

Personally I really like the way that the 110 horsepower 1.0T drives, but being a 3 cylinder GDi turbocharged engine, It's a much bigger risk than competition!

ignis

Well it's a bit of an odd box on wheels...

Another nice choice seems to be the Mazda 2 with the 1.5 skyactiv and 90hp

Imo it's bellow the level of the Yaris, Jazz and Swift - Mazdas are fancier but smaller and had pretty bad brakes.

Personally I think that the smallest good Mazda is the CX-3, that one is definitely highway worthy - but is probably significantly more expensive.

I think that your best option is the Yaris, as it's much newer and has much less millage than the Jazz.

But the Swift might also be great - if you can find one in similar condition as the Yaris for less.

Any thoughts on fiesta 1.25 from around 2017-2019?
