So I'm really interested in learning how to drive a manual bc my dream car is a stick shift but the problem is I have no way to practice without a stick shift car, I've asked around and people have offered to teach me but only if I bring my own car, I know there prob aren't many  solutions to this but how can I find a stick shift car to practice in? I really wanna learn but if I don't have a car to practice in it defeats the purpose?

Rent a cheap car if you can for like a week or two or borrow one from someone you know. Maybe even save a 1000$ to buy a cheap stick shift corolla because they are way cheaper and practice in that and then sell it.

All rental cars in North America are automatic.

If you really don't know anyone with a stick-shift car you might have to just bite the bullet and go buy one to learn on. (I learned about 50 years ago when there were a lot more manual transmission cars around.)

Get a cheap beater car to learn on and get experience. My mom got me my 1st car, it was a manual, didn't know how to drive one. Got some pointers from brother-in-law, and went for it. Sink or swim. Been driving a manual for over 40 yrs now.

Be aware that some manuals are harder to shift smoothly than others.  Honda Civic is really easy, much easier than my WRX. Wranglers are pretty tough to shift smoothly too.  I’ve heard Miata s are easy.

Its easy to get frustrated at first, so the easier the clutch is to modulate, the faster you will feel confident.

Corollas are abyas easy as Civics.

Clutches are expensive replaced mine last year on an 06 wrangler for about a grand. People have asked me to “teach” them how to drive manual which is fine as long as it isn’t my clutch burning. If it’s possible, try and find some way into a rental, but in the US, I highly doubt you will find one. If it’s a dream then you may just buy a beater.

Buy a beater

Your best option is probably to buy a beater with a manual transmission. The unfortunate part about these days is there are people like yourself who want to learn but don't have the resources to.

get an old civic with manual you pretty much cant brake those unless you do it on purpose lol.

hard part is learning taking off from a stop and also stopping it. the rest is easy

brake+clutch >release clutch slowly till car begins rolling then ease off break while in 1st gear, for best mpg u shift at 2500 rpm

to stop press clutch in, go on neutral then apply break.

you slowly get used it by just the engine noise as you do it over and over . goodluck

Make friends with a mechanic, go to a copart or junkyard dealer to buy a ight running car for like $700 dollars, it won't last ya all that long, but then if you think about it,you learn stick, then flip the car under lemon law. =Profit. Did it once. Would do again lol. Or if you'd like to save the hassle, just rent one out and don't worry about it. Just have someone else drive it off the lot with you.

Buy an old Geo Metro with a standard transmission. I taught my 50 year old mother to drive a stick in a Geo Metro that she had picked up for $500. It was a decent little car.
