Hello Scotty,

I do have a Toyota Hilux Vigo, Diesel, Double Cab , manual, 2,5 Liter: D-4D DOHC I4, 106 kW KUN 35R, 2-WD, Prerunner, with 275 000 Km in excellent condition.
It is from 2009 and standing on an Island in Thailand 2,5 Kilo meters away from the beach.
Because of Corona, it´s not possible to entrance the country and i can not drive the car at the moment and it parks there in a safe place for 6 month now.

Before i went back to Europe I disconnected the battery.

Now I am starting to worry about the situation and looking for advises from you for storage and maintenance the car in the correct Corona-way until i can return:

  1. I bought a tickle charger already for the battery. Is it possible to charge it inside the car without removing the battery out of the car?

  2. would it be a good idea to lubricate the brake discs for anti-corrosion?

  3. Would it be a good idea to overfill the tires a little bit for not damage this brand new and expensive Michelin tires (7 month old) This car is nearly 2 tons heavy!

  4. is it necessary to "run up my engine" (like Scotty would say) for sometime (if yes, how often for how long) or do i have to take it for a longer ride ((if yes, how often). My friend who is taking care of the car could help me to do this.

  5. Are there anything more i could do to protect this car the right way, if it would be yours?

Any advice's are welcome because i love this car a lot and it is in such good condition, so it would be a big sin not to do everything it needs to protect this baby!!!
And please feel free to tell me anything what do you think about this specific model and the engine. Goods and bad news (i hope i can stand the bad news)

6 months isn't all that bad but the problem is the diesel itself may go bad or if it sits for years the engine May lock up so if you can get it going soon as sooner the better you can charge the battery in the vehicle you don't have to take it out

Thank you for you response! I found out:
The durability of diesel

Diesel can only be kept for a maximum of 6 months, even if stored airtight. Bacteria from the biodiesel
content it contains decompose the carbon in diesel over time and form a type of sludge that can cause corrosion
in the tank and clog the engine's fuel system. In the tank of the car, the durability of diesel is shortened
accordingly to a few months. After 2 to 3 months in the tank, diesel should be used and refilled.

So this means should I drain the diesel and flush the fuel tank? Is that a lot of work?
Thanks in advance
