[Solved] How to find a short

95 ranger xl 230k

Im having issues with my alternator not charging my battery and it often blows a fuse at some point as well.

How can i find where the short is to fix the fuse issue? Hoping this will fix the non charge issue as well

Scotty has multiple videos on this subject.  Type in "shorts" in the searchbar in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

You will need to check continuity across the circuit and between the power side of the circuit and ground side where there should be no continuity 


could you explain that a bit more in depth? still learning electrical stuff


It’s not the easiest to explain typed out like this… you want to set an ohm meter in the ohm position and have a schematic of the system to give you wire color and pin locations in the connector to start then it is checking across the circuit for continuity. You could probably google a video that’ll walk you through it
