Wrong Oil

Hi Scotty! Thank you for your videos. You are making a big service. I have a 2010 Chevy Malibu LT. My FORMER mechanic put the wrong oil in last time he changed it (10W oil instead of 5W). I drove around for 2 months before I got the "Power Reduce", "Service Traction", plus my car acting like the last stage of Parkinson Disease. I also got the P0325-Powertrain code, and the P1682-Powertrain code. The former is about the Knock Sensor, but disappeared after a couple of days. The P1682 code, on the other hand, won't go away. What can I do to prevent my engine from further damage after the wrong oil got poured in? I'm going to change the Ignition Switch to get rid of the P1682 code, am I doing the right thing? I appreciate your help! Greetings from Dominican Republic!

Unless you live in the Arctic, the 10W will not harm your engine.

Did you change the oil?

The oil is NOT causing your problems.

Yeah that minor of an oil grade change is not causing your problems. You have bigger issues to be worried about. I would find a new mechanic and let them take a look.
