Hello I have been on the looking for a hybrid truck either a 2023 or a 2024 I was wondering if you any feedback on a particular brand (ford, toyota, gmc or honda) and any recommendations would be great!
The only two hybrid trucks I would consider are the Toyota Tundra and the Toyota Tacoma. But, with that said, the I Force Max hybrid technology is so new, it is though to say how it will hold up. It’s not yet time tested like the Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive.
I spoke too soon I guess, apparently Toyota is experimenting with the technology. I should have consulted the wiki I guess, haha. I was never aware of it. Must be a little-known fact about them. I see Toyota commercials advertising trucks all the time, you would think they'd put that in the advertising. Full-fledged trucks definitely aren't the first things that come to mind when I picture a hybrid. This is indeed very interesting technology.
It’s so new, and you’re right, they don’t seem to pump up the hybrid part, just the max part. TMK, this is the similar technology that is going into the new Land Cruiser.
Unfortunately, you're pretty limited as far as hybrids and pickups. The ones that are hybrids aren't true pickups (body-on-frame vehicles). Those that are, aren't actual pickups. They're unibodies in the shape of a pickup. Toyota doesn't have a hybrid model in their lineup, Honda has the Ridgeline, but it's not a hybrid. I'm pretty sure only the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz are hybrids. Between those, go for a Maverick. Hyundais are notorious for burning oil because of improperly designed engines. Dealers know it and they don't care. 1,000 miles per quart is "normal". After almost 300k miles, my Ford Ranger uses a quart of oil every 5,000 miles because of leakage. I don't need to touch the dipstick between changes, because when it hits min, it's around time to change it anyways. I may be missing others, but it's pretty slim pickings. Ford Mavericks are also Hencho en Mexico, which isn't exactly known for making a quality vehicle.
