Scotty often talks about dealerships in the US ripping people off. Guys, I am utterly shocked this is happening. Not actually honoring warranty work, not carrying out an oil change (and claiming they did), customers paying out of pocket if transmission goes out, dealer markups on new cars, unskilled mechanics....
I am speechless.
Here in Slovakia when you shop for a new car, you are eligible for a heavy discount if you work for the state (police, fire brigade, ambulance.... . Dealers here do not mark up their cars on the lot. Everybody here is honest and even gives you a discount for an oil change (I got one because I am a student). People get their cars fixed under warranty with no problem, dealers fix it for free. My dealer where I bought my car even offers a one yearly tow free policy when you buy their cars. Everybody is happy with dealers here and I hear little to no complaints. Last time I bought one litre of Shell oil and they gave it to me at a discount of 50% because we bought 2 cars from them already. Then the mechanic poured about half the oil into my car and advised me to keep the rest in case of an emergency.
Sorry guys I know America is a great country but you need to do something about these dealerships. When I watch Scotty´s videos, my jaw drops from the stuff these people pull on customers.
Just wait. It’ll come to Slovakia too.
Some dealerships are honest, even Scotty has mentioned that. Probably you are lucky to have encountered one.
Only thing I go to Toyota dealership are OEM parts since local stores do not sell them. And yet, they still try to screw me and sell me stuff I don't need. I'd rather not mention their attitude.
