I have a 1981 DeLorean with 17K miles and an automatic transmission.
This is a vehicle that I drive very little and am concerned about the ethanol gas going bad quickly and damaging the fuel system and motor if it sits a long time.
Being a 40 year old car it was designed for ethanol free fuel. Would it be safe to run REC-90 ethanol free recreation fuel in the car or would I be better off using an additive to protect it? If an additive would be better, what would you recommend?
thanks
I use Sta-Bil in my 1960s-vintage cars as well as lawn equipment that sits most of the winter and have had no problems. Keep your fuel tank full to minimize condensation.

If you are not using it much, I would go with what Chuck Tobias said and put stabil in it, but I would also use the ethanol free marine fuel. That combination will allow you to let it sit the longest.
if wouldn't be a cheap solution, but you could look into buying 5 gallon pails of Sunoco Optima or an equivalent VP racing product.
Sunoco and VP both make 100% ethanol free gasoline that have advertised shelf life in excess of 2+ years with no stabilizers required.
Both of their fuels are higher octane than pump premium, so I'm 99% sure that you could also mix their fuels with pump gas for a reduced but still extended shelf life.
