Scotty, my dad bought me a 2004 lexus es330 2 owner with 43,000 miles for $6000. Was it a fair deal? Would it last me a while?
Congrats. Try not to crash it.
Or rice it..

I might crash it. That thing is nothing like the 2015 accord I have to drive. It feels like a luxury huge tank- I thought it was an ls driving it.
You got a good deal. Read the owner's manual on what needs to be changed at what time. What you can do now is change the oil and the transmission fluid.
It was listed for $9000 7 days ago, then dropped to $7500 after a couple of days, and my dad negotiated it down to $6000. It does have a couple of dents on the exterior, but everything else is pretty good, according to my dad. I am going to see it in like 20 minutes when he comes home.
I like your dad. Does he want to adopt?
I got a 78 Dodge Aspen from my dad and drove it unit 1998. It had to be junked when the "A" frame separated from the unibody. That's what upstate winter do to cars. The engine and transmission were in perfect working order. The odometer turned over so many times I lost track of the total mileage. I did get tired of looking at it after a while. Don't drive like a maniac and change the oil regularly and it will last. Lexus like Toyota's have a good reputation for longevity.
I chose the car and my dad made the deal. I am big on cars. But I am so lucky to have my first car and I love him
Congratulations. I think in this market and with only 43,000 miles (that’s about 13% of its useful life or 300,000 miles) that’s a solid deal. Hopefully your dad had a mechanic thoroughly check the vehicle out before purchase; if not, I would get that done as soon as possible and see what needs fixing soon and what can probably wait. Be sure to change the engine oil no more than every 5,000 miles and transmission fluid about every 40,000 miles. The engine has a timing belt on an interference engine so periodically will need to be changed (check owner’s manual and Lexus forum).
the exterior was in bad shape. had a lot of dents and stuff.
Congrats! I am turning 16 in a few weeks and I my parents won't give me as nice of a ride as that! My mom has an 2004 Camry and it has 455,000 miles on it and it is very similar to your car. My moms is the 4 cylinder, not the V6 yours has. Bottom line, you got a reliable car that should last for years to come from a luxury brand. Take care of it and again Congrats!
yup. Thanks. Wow your camry has a lot of mileage. It's gonna go to my brother first and then to me. He is 17. The car starts up so fast every time and runs as good as our 2015 honda accord.
you can check with nada.com and kbb.com to see the theoretical value of the car. The odometer is astoundingly low for it's age, this car should, if you maintain it properly, get you through college and beyond. Download and read the owners manual, cover to cover. There is a lot of really good information in there, lots of features on this car. Run the VIN by the NHTSA.gov website to check for recalls. Own a volt/ohm meter and an OBD scanner, both cheap tools but will open up a world of information to you.
i have an obd2 scanner but have no idea how to use it.
There are plenty of videos on Youtube including Scotty's showing how to use OBD2 scanners. The simple ones are easy. The fancy ones like Scotty usually uses require more skill.
