I am buying a used 2007 Prius hybrid
I want to buy a used 2007 Toyota Prius. What is your advice on that car. I wan to use it for ehailing
Don’t.
Get a brand new one instead.
I wouldn't buy one that has aged. Battery replacement is coming up soon and will be expensive.
Just buy a new one and use it. It will pay for itself over time as much city driving as you'll be doing.
Not a good idea.
I'd actually say go for it, if your very good at electronics and know how to watch and follow youtube videos carefully.
If you dont mind, you can buy replacement battery packs right from https://www.electronautomotive.com/ the battery packs (with brand new cells) are around $2500 with a 3 year warranty. You do have to pay a deposit that is a few hundred dollars on top of that which you will get back, if you return the old battery to them. These other people are assuming you will take it to the dealer who will charge you ALOT to do that. 3 year warranty on the battery or 45k miles, and assuming you like doing that, you have fun in the process. I would watch some videos on how to do this safely, because you CAN electrocute yourself. But if you dont, the payoff is very good. It may take a few hours max, but how many people do you know that make $2,000 every 4 hours? Okay fine it takes 8 hours for you. Do you know anyone who makes $2,000 in 8 hours?
Lets do the math. A brand new prius is 25k. You can get a used one for around 5 grand with less than 150k miles on it. The battery goes dead. Okay that's $7500 total. $2500 for the battery, $5000 for the car. Okay fine, you spend $100 on a nice blue driver Bluetooth scan tool or $30 on a cheap one to know the hybrid battery is dead. The rest of the car is pretty reliable too. No, don't buy a prius brand new unless you have the money upfront to pay CASH and have a net worth of over a million dollars and you just dont want any fuss. Or buy a 2 to 5 year old prius.
