Hi Scotty. I bought a 2005 Mini (mini) one, 1.6 petrol which is a manual gearbox. It was purchased private. Mileage is 114,000 miles however the certificates shows that the car has had great servicing as well as many of the main components changed over the last few years.
I need to change the nearside driveshaft which is on the left side sitting from in the car in UK. I noticed that before pressing the clutch pedal in that I have a spinning noise, and when I press the clutch pedal to the floor it goes away. Most people say this is the input shaft bearing… I am just curious if changing the broken driveshaft could help with this noise or does that have nothing to do with that sound.
Will changing the oil out from the transmission make any difference if it is this bearing and or adding any additives to help the problem… or is the only possible way to solve this, by removing half of the engine haha.thanks for your time and great content as always.

Sounds like the clutch pilot bearing. Oil and additives will not even reach that bearing, it lives in the flywheel. To replace it you need to separate the engine and transmission.
