I have a 2014 Toyota camry with 90k miles.

My rear bumper has some scratches  (see image here https://imgur.com/QMfo7XF) is it worth it to fix it to get more money when I sell it?

Thanks,

Miguel

Maybe. I mean how valuable is your time? You could go down to the pick-a-part and see if they had a nice one in the same color. If you could get one for 30 or 40 dollars or something , I think it's worth an afternoon to go down there. It could get you probably another 100 or 200 dollars on the selling price. Then again the market is still hot. You should have no problem selling the car as is with such low mileage.

I'd suggest having the bumper (cover) fixed by a bumper/detail repair specialist.

That one repair will definitely help the 'curb appeal' of the vehicle.

It's a simple cost-reward analysis, so will you get what you spend on it, back out of it. I think you will.

A used Camry is a desirable used car. The better the appearance the more likely you'll get a premium sale price.

It's going to cost $300, minimum, for a cheap body shop to do a budget restoration. I don't think they even bother repair gouges like this and just replace them (if this were an insurance claim for example). If you're paying someone to do it, that means the seller can too, and that diminishes the benefit. That's why most people just leave cosmetic damage like this be. Not worth it.

Have several ppl in my area that go around to dealerships doing this particular repair and touch up work. They use heat guns, charge from $200 to $300.. IF it's a "repairable cover" (no holes).. Should have made it clear that I was opposed to any body shop work - that's too costly.

You could always try the cheap way I do it. Get a duplicolor paint pen with clear coat, your car might be new enough to be pretty close to the original color. I would hit the scratches with the clear coat and see if it works, it may make them vanish. Amazing what a little clear coat will do on light scratches.

Then start on the bad spots, it may not look perfect, but it may look a whole lot better.

Look up on youtube how to do any of it, and especially how to get that little dent out, some use hair dryers.
