I have a Jeep Liberty, 2005, with 230,000 miles. Recently, I had the A/C recharged, but a week later it was blowing hot air. So, the garage recharged with R134a. Again, after a week it was blowing hot air. A dye was put in and it was diagnosed as a leaking condenser. A new condenser was put in and recharged and within a week it was b;owing hot air. This time the compressor was changed out (since it was not working), refilled, and again in a week it was blowing hot air. What should my next step be?
You may have another leak somewhere else. Try the leak test again.
Evaporator may be leaking, that won't show up on a dye test. A good AC shop will have an electronic sniffer that can detect refrigerant leaking inside the vehicle.
Hi Scotty,
I had the shop recheck their work for leaks. There were no leaks found, but after the system was running for a bit, the a/c started blowing cold air. Granted that the cold air is not 35 degrees F, maybe 50F, but good enough. It blows strong on the 3 levels.
The tech couldn't explain it too well, except for maybe an air bubble in the line?
It has been performing good for the last 2 weeks.
Regards
I would suggest taking it to a real professional AC guy. Apparently, the people who have worked on it already don't know what they are doing.
