Jeep history?

I think we can all agree that the reliability of today's jeeps is virtually nonexistent, but what about the time they weren't owned by FCA? They used to be owned by Willys-Overland, Kaiser-Jeep, AMC, then finally Chrysler. It makes me wonder if they were built better back then under the ownership of those other companies.

@Rocco Funny part is that in Canada, people are crazy over jeep. Everyone wants a wrangler unlimited and they go for big money!
They be crossing a broken piece of road making a video of it and be throwing #offroad #jeeplife tags lol.
I've seen 2018 going for the price of 50,000 cad with a bunch of kits on em.
The love for Jeep is really crazy here.
Honestly, I haven't heard anything about reliability from my friends too who own these Jeeps but they rarely take it off road.
Ladies here are obsessed with Jeep like craaaaazy! It's really their favorite. Even for once it made me question myself if I should get one but nah, I don't drive jacked up matchboxes.

Back when they were made by willys they made them almost exclusively for the military and are very simple and capable vehicles. I think the simplicity and lack of electronics made them reliable.

The Jeeps with solid axles and the 4.0 six (or 2.5 four) certainly hold up far better than today's Fiat-Chrysler models.

A 90's to 04 Jeep is very reliable that is what I know. Up to about 2004 2005 they were good.
