How to avoid trans cooler failure on 2007 Nissan Xterra?

Really enjoy your show, I am 77 yrs old and remember when I could fix and maintain my cars. Now there are so many govt mandated sensors and plastic junk, I cringe just thinking about it. I have always driven standard xmission cars as I like to drive my car, not have it drive me. I now have a 2007 Nissan Xterra 2wd with 55k miles with an automatic xmission at the behest of my wife, ok, I did it to please her/ I have had some problems, fuel pump, fuel sender, crank sensor, etc but generally like the vehicle. I do feel like I am driving a time bomb due to the tendency for the radiator to crack and mix coolant with xmission fluid and ruin the tranny. I see videos online showing how you can move some hoses around to avoid this problem. What do you know about this?

The only way I can think of to avoid this problem would be to disconnect the factory transmission cooler and install an aftermarket unit separate from the radiator. The idea of "moving some hoses around" probably amounts to just bypassing the trans cooler entirely, but you can damage the transmission that way.
