Lacquer Thinner for the CAT- CA green product efficiency?

Scotty:

I have a 420 error and saw your video re Lacquer Thinner.  I want to try this method of cleaning, but I live in CA and they have 'dumbed down' lacquer thinner to be more touchy feely for the liberals in this state.  My feeling is that I won't get the full benefit from the greener product that I can get out here.  What are your thoughts?

How about doing some diagnostic work in case the code is being triggered by something other than the converter itself?

Scotty doesn't put lacquer thinner in the gas tank. You need to take the catalytic converter out of the car and left to sit in the thinner overnight. Most converters are welded on, too. Diagnose the problem, don't mess with having to take the converters off. It'll just cause headaches in the future if you do nothing about it.

Please read the FAQ. P0420 fault is well covered there.

Forget Lacquer thinner, that’s BS regardless what Scotty said.   Follow Chuck’s recommendation above.

What about cataclean ??

Band-aid fix at best, or it may not work at all. Catalytic converters last the lifetime of the vehicle, my catalytic converters are all original on my '99 Ranger with 292k miles. Something is wrong with the engine. It could be vacuum leaks, oxygen sensors... live data will show you what's going on.
