Lexus ac and vents

  1. I have a 2011 lexus es350 with 237,000 miles. Whenever I start the car and its over 90 degrees or so it takes about 10 minutes for the vents to blow any air at all, and is slow when they start. After that it took another 10 minutes for the ac to put out cold air, but now there is no ac at all over that temperature but works great when its 70 degrees or so. My mechanic looked it over and recharged the ac and couldnt find anything else. After a call with the toyota dealer he tried replacing some speed controller but that didnt work and cant find anything out now.

Do you hear the blower motor working when no air is coming out of the vents? Is your compressor engaging during that period of time when the AC is not blowing cold? Your control flaps in the dash may not be working properly.

That's all computer controlled and would need to be diagnosed with a professional-grade bidirectional scan tool. A good independent mechanic is the best bet, dealers frequently do not have the greatest diagnosticians on staff.
