I live in a medium size city, we have a local starter and alternator shop. is it better to bring my old starters and alternators to the local shops or go to a national auto parts store? I'd like to to be cheap like you Scotty, but which is a better deal? Are there cash discounts available at the local joints?
Usually the big auto parts stores - like AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, O'Reillys, etc. - give guarantees on things like alternators and starters they sell. So if they break quickly after you buy and install it, you can just take it back to them and they will usually give you a replacement one for free. I know for sure AutoZone does this because I have received replacements from them before. But, I cannot say for sure for other parts stores.
