Should I dump my Mexican-made Mazda?

2015 Mazda3 Hatchback manual transmission with approx 35K miles. Great gas mileage, up to 44 mpg highway and  38 city. Absolutely love it, and no problems yet (knock wood).  77 yrs old and I still love cars, and do all my own very regular maintenance. Planned on keeping it till one of us dies, and would've bet it would remain roadworthy well beyond me. However, just realized it was made in Mexico:  should I dump it now while it still runs great and looks brand new; or do I take the chance and keep it? Only paid $20K for it new in November 2014. Ran across some blog info saying it was built at the beginning of Mazda's operations in Mexico and that there were tight controls and Japanese supervision, but I'm too old to believe things just because they sound good to me. Like I said, I'm 77 and think I'd be damn lucky if I live till I'm 85, so what do you think? It's a coin flip from my perspective.

Thanks for all you do, youngster, and please keep up the great work!!

Cheers, Gary in Arizona (moving to West Virginia in the Spring while Arizona's being overrun by illegals and democrats. Just sayin'...)

Well actually I haven't seen too many problems in those Mazda's made there. Some of the stuff in Mexico is okay, especially the Mazda and Toyota stuff. My son has two Toyota's made in Mexico and they're perfectly fine

Thanks, young man, appreciate the personal response. Huge fan and absolutely love what you do; please keep up the great work!! Cheers, G

You might be the first person to refer to Scotty as young man

Why get rid of what apparently has been a perfectly good car for going on a decade just because of suddenly realizing it was made south of the border? If you were going to experience any quality problems it would have happened already. Likely the engines and transmissions were shipped over from Japan anyway and the car was just assembled in Mexico.

Thanks, Chuck. That's the way I always looked at it until I watched Scotty last night ripping on Mexican built Ford trucks. My pre-dementia old-guy brain is no longer as well tuned as I keep my vehicles, so I wanted to hear from other car lovers. Cheers, G
