Hey Scotty I got a 2016 Hyundai Elantra SE 1.8L 4 cylinder automatic FWD with 54,694 miles. the other day my mother drove the car and she noticed when accelerating she can hear a humming noise coming from the front of the car and It gets louder as the car goes faster.it does quiet down when coming to a stop. it kinda sounds like when you're driving on a long bridge and you hear that high pitched grinding sound from outside until you get off the bridge. not even my ram 1500 or the Nissan Pathfinder hardly does this at all with almost the same milage I'm not sure if this has to do with Korean quality. could it be the front wheel bearings ? Thanks.
Was the vehicle ever in a curb hit?
Sure sounds like one of the wheel bearings.
If it doesn’t happen when you rev the engine at idle, I’d check the wheel bearings very closely.
Check the wheel bearings.
Nope we always avoid hitting a curb, it doesn't do it with engine revving only when the car is actually moving. Barely hear it in reverse but most of it happens in drive.
Can be the differential too even it shouldnt considering the low milage. You need to locate the sound first. Sound moves and is hard to locate when in the car.
@mario1982 In a FWD? Do you mean transaxle?
Well yes it is a differnetial it is just called transaxle :p
