Bought a used vehicle a year ago and only realized now that the transmission has a label marked "remanufactured". I have been having some issues with it, so I called around trying to find out when, where, and under what circumstances it was replaced. The part was never registered with the manufacturer which means a local shop likely did the job, what are my options when trying to get the part warrantied?

About all you can do is look for any paperwork that might be in the car, in the glovebox or door pockets. Carfax might show it if the shop reported to them.

Other than that you'd have to ask the previous owner. It's quite possible that even if the warranty would otherwise still be in effect it would only apply to the owner who had the transmission installed.

Thanks for responding! This is the dead end I happened upon before posting here. Don't think I will be getting in touch with the previous owner but I guess it is worth a shot.
