Hey Scotty
what is your honest opinion on the 2021 Mazda CX 30 2.5 L skyactive G engine.
Looks good and probably drives good. About reliability, you can not say anything.
Mazda has bee using the 2.5L for several years now and they have shown to be reliable so far. Mazda's reliabilty overall is very good over the last half decade or so.
The large plastic cladding on the CX 30 however, I find to be quite hideous. They seemed to have just elevated the Mazda 3 and filled the large gap with plastic
The 2021 cx-30 also had the new Skyactive-x engine available, right? Do we know how that's turning out compared to the G? Saw a video on it an I'm intrigued, but skeptical.
Please disregard. Looks like Mazda did not end up bringing the X in the US, and went with the 2.5L turbo in all of their models instead.
The 2.5L SkyActiv-G naturally aspirated I4 engine has been out since 2013 and so far has proven fairly reliable (including the 6-speed automatic transmission). In 2018 model year, they did introduce cylinder deactivation; however, in the case of the 2021 Mazda CX-30 cylinder deactivation is only available on the Premium Package, so just avoid that package.
