Metris van expectations

I've never been a huge automobile fan so I've always purchased what I like. Since I purchased my first vehicle in 1976 I've had my share of hits and misses, but the one vehicle I fell in love with was the Chevrolet Astrovan. I've owned 3 and it damn near killed me to give up my last one after inheriting a vehicle with considerably lower mileage. Shortly after my acquisition I traded the vehicle in for a Honda Odyssey. The vehicle was nice, but it wasn't a true van, so I ended up trading it in for a low mileage (4,300) 2019 Mercede-Benz (MB) Metris van. I don't consider the Metris design to be as good as the Astro, but it runs well and affords me the interior space I expect of a true van. After viewing your videos on the quality of MB, should I worry about maintenance expense similar to what high end MB purchasers experience? Keeping my fingers crossed in Florida.

You should worry, a lot.

Do not expect anything good from the Mercedes-Benz Metris.

I'm a postal carrier and drive the Metris a couple times a week. Granted, the one I drive it a right side drive version of the vehicle and it is stop and go wear as well as turning the vehicle off and on at least 60 times per day. I choose to use the Metris when I can only because it's more comfortable on my messed up back than the 32 year old Grumman LLV I regularly drive, but we have had issues with them even with under 7,000 miles. I'm ruling out tires and brakes because that comes with the nature of wear and tear with my job as most at 5000 miles already have had tire and brake replacements. Coolant leaks seem to be the main issue I have had to deal with on a couple of them. Cheap plastic knobs on the interior get broken off. And as far as I can find you cannot disable the auto-shutoff of the engine when you come to a stop. I have to push the button to disengage after every time I start the Metris. Very annoying. Parts are expensive. Have not run into other engine issues yet, but time will tell. It is turbo charged and believe based on what Scotty has said with turbo engines these won't last as a good long-term investment.

Sell it and get yourself a Sienna.

You better sell it right away and get a Toyota Sienna. The two other vehicles that you mention besides the Metris are ok vehicles.
