- Hi Scotty, was looking for your thoughts on getting a Miata. I know you just got one and I was curious if you think the higher trims are overkill for someone looking for spirited driving on roads -no tracking it. That is, do I really need the LSD? Will I miss it? I live in Florida so no snow to deal with. I currently drive a 2019 VW GLI Autobahn which has the LSD and is FWD. thanks for any advice!
@jamesw
I say as long as it has 6-speed manual, LSD, Bilstein shocks, … you are set. Rest is just fluff! I have 2004, Canadian spec GS. I would skip NC because these are too porky. Of course newest ND is probably the best driver, but all that fluff is not optional.
Anyway, … I would just find a good NB and be done with it! But that’s just me, …
Best,
F.S.

… couple more items: make sure you use lightest tires you can find. Lightest wheels, too! Stock wheels are actually very good. Don’t go don’t beyond 16 inch. Keep standard size tire. Currently the tire that works best is Continental DWS O6 all season.
yeah you pay a ton and really they're basically the same car with the same amount of power and the same amount of fun I wouldn't waste too much money heck I'd buy a used one for a couple of grand if I was going to get one
@scottykilmer
Thanks!
I agree with Scotty, if you don't care about any of the fancy features, go with the Sport as the features would just be a waste of money if you don't care about them. I would also by one used if you don't care about having one new.
My plans are to buy one sometime in the next 6 months, but I will be going the new route as I'm looking at this as being something I drive for 10-20 years (it might just outlast me).
Unless my wife really see a reason to go with a different version, I am strongly leaning towards a soft top Club as I really think that is the sweetspot for the current model.
