Hi Scotty,
My 2015 BMW i3 was totaled after being hit by a Nissan Altima. Im looking at buying a used 2010 or 2011 Toyota Venza. After looking at your videos I can’t help but choose a Toyota. What should I look for before buying a Venza?
Thank you so much for making these videos. unfortunately, my dad didn’t teach me anything about cars but I’m learning a lot from you & even bought your book on Amazon.
Warm Regards! {blackemo}:gift:

Make sure you buy a V6 not the 4-cylinder engine and watch for common issues with the 2GR-FE engines (mainly oil leaks but they can get expensive in some cases).
Oh they're well made vehicles. Just you have to have a mechanic like myself. Check them out cuz you can't trust anyone or whether it was flooded. Wrecked stolen and a good mechanic can tell within an hour what kind of shape it's in. And of course road tested yourself to see how it shifts. Then look under see if it leaks, fluids or anything. If you want to check it out before you have a mechanic look at it
Start by getting a carfax or vehicle history report.
CarFax isn't reliable anymore. https://youtu.be/k7aSoFqAyK8 1:40 or so.
My step dad bought a 2013 Ford Escape in 2015 or 2016 that had been flooded out. It was registered as a rental car in Illinois. The transmission blew up a month later, it was full of mud and water. His bank took their money back from the dealer, and he got another car. It was a "certified pre-owned" vehicle by Ford as well.

Another Scotty short about it.
Start by getting a carfax or vehicle history report. Usually if the car has been maintained by a larger auto shop they will report to them. Make sure car was serviced properly. Now in some cases you might get one that has no service records reported to the car fax.
