Hi Scotty,
I have a 2004 Honda CR-V it’s about 104,000 miles the car runs great. But now when I start the car it seems like it doesn’t want to start. If I can get it to start it runs great. I went down to auto zone to see if it was the battery but they said there’s nothing wrong with the battery so it must be something over time that is worn out. At first I thought it’s because of the cold weather now that it’s summer starting it is still a task.
Yes appreciate your answering me back. I'm going to car shop hoping they don't take advantage of my lack of car knowledge.
Do you mean that the starter is dragging and not turning the engine over fast enough? The starter could well be going bad on an 18-year-old car. First I'd check that the cable connections to the battery and the starter are clean and tight.
Without knowing more and seeing the car myself, I’d say it’s the starter. Starters go out eventually. And usually not to hard to fix on a Honda.
Try Chuck’s steps first. If still no luck, see here -
