Vehicle info: 2017 Kia Optima plug-in hybrid 77000 miles. Maintenance up to date

Last September, I was driving my kia down down an on ramp and suddenly I heard a loud bang under the hood accompanied by a sudden loss of power. I immediately pulled over and as I was coming to a stop, I heard a second bang and saw the hood paint start to bubble. Within seconds, flames began to pour over the windshield and through my ac vents and across the dash. I jumped out and took off running. The maintenance was up to date and this occurred without warning. I wanted to post pictures for you to review. I contacted the kia engine settlement link and filed a complaint with the NHTSA because what happened seem to match what others have described with their kias.  I was advised by kia that my vehicle was not included in the settlement because it was a hybrid and didn't match the engines that were listed in the settlement.

My question is, are you aware of any other kia plug-in hybrid owners that have had unexpected engine fires?

Yes . Many people. It's in the news frequently. It's well known about Kia/Hundai and Scotty talks about it too.

I just looked up your car on NHSTA and it is included in the list of recalled Kia vehicles which can stall or catch on fire assuming yours caught on fire for the same reason as indicated in this link. I guess Kia isn't only bad with quality, they're bad when it comes to customer service and taking responsibility too.

Kia Sorento ... same thing.

Customers are being told by Kia that their engines "do not qualify" for replacement under warranty, even though they loose compression and burn 5qt of oil every 2 wk.

People are crazy if they think it's a good idea to buy a car from this slimy hack of a company.
