[Solved] Need help: bought a 2019 Civic hatchback, Sport Touring

I had traded in around 11-days ago, my 2022 Toyota Camry SE sedan for this 2019 Civic hatchback. The hatchback was previously leased out, and my understanding their lease expired. I was unaware at the time there are “engine oil” issues with the 1.5 engines for the Honda line from 2017-2019. At what point will I recognize my car has this issue? I absolutely LOVE this Civic sport touring compared to my old Camry and bought it reduced at $28,151. Only thing, I wasn’t aware of this YouTube channel; as well as, other YouTube car channels until after the fact. My concern does the “engine oil” issue affect ALL of their 2017-2019 cars? Or is it a hit and miss issue? My car was manufactured in the UK if that makes any difference. What is the monetary outcome and car damage I am facing should my car be effected down the road? What would you advise I do? The mileage I have now on my Civic reads: 37,736 miles.

Thank you,
Michele Carandang

You're most likely referring to that engine's oil dilution problem (gasoline diluting oil). Your best bet will be to use a GF-6 rated oil changed at no more than 5000 mile intervals and make sure the car has all factory software updates. Short trips make the problem worse so make sure you take it out on a good run every once in a while.

@dan would probably have more details, especially for UK-spec engines.
