Mechanic says I need a new alternator for a 2011 corolla ,should I get an OEM or are the aftermarket ones ok?

quality of aftermarket ones varies greatly. Don't buy a cheap one and it'll probably be ok. Get one with a good warranty.

Find one with a limited, lifetime warranty and keep the receipt.
