Toyota and Lexus have just announced another recall... Toyota is recalling certain Toyota RAV4 and Lexus NX models produced in September of 2024 because their brakes might fall off! This is due to bolts that were improperly tightened.

Hey Scotty,
NHSTA just denied automaker’s request to reconsider mandating AEB on all new vehicles. The auto makers are arguing that the regulation is going to force them to be too sensitive and thus cause even more false activations. NHTSA gave them the big middle finger and said they don’t believe them. At the same time they are investigating Honda for false activations of their system already, possibly forcing a huge recall. The government talking out of both sides of their mouths again. Attention needs to be brought to this topic and the public needs to push back.

On cars worth 100-£200,000. That's $126,707 to $253,415. Apparently the wheel attachments don't meet specifications. I wonder if it's the quality of the metal?.
World is falling apart people. As a carpenter I'm having to search for different makes of screws from private companies because all the brand names just snap doing now what I've been doing with them for 25 years.

Saw this blow up on Youtube recently, but was suprised to find there were many more of them when I looked for a link. Ok, I wasn't that suprised.

Honda is recalling 1.7 Million vehicles for potential steering defect (steering wheel jams up):
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FT1BB0dwPU
@chucktobias Yikes that includes my Civic too; thanks for posting!
Looks like a real nasty problem, doesn't get much worse than the steering wheel locking up while driving.
@chucktobias It's scary tbh. I haven't had any issues since I bought it in 2021 but I guess I've been lucky so far.
Supposedly only a small fraction of the recalled cars are expected to actually have the problem, but it still would not exactly give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
It's amazing to me to see problems with new and late model cars that I don't experience with my decades-old high-miles beaters.
@chucktobias Thanks for posting. My dads car was affected by this issue (long before the recall) as he has a 2023 Acura Integra, the dealer replaced his entire steering rack free of charge due to this issue
Stellantis is getting a new North America COO: the current Jeep CEO per Automotive News. What a bad decision by Stellantis. In my opinion they shouldn’t have promoted anyone internally their cars are junk. @imperator ever wonder if these types of blunders occurred before YouTube but we just weren't as well informed?
Oh I have no doubt of that. We can now see their full incompetence in its full HD glory.
@imperator Back in the 1960s and 1970s it was actually considered normal and expected that new cars were delivered with defects from the factory that the dealer was supposed to rectify. This could be as simple as a misadjusted carburetor or it could be doors out of alignment, water leaks, bad wheel alignment, ignition problems, etc. I remember seeing a photo in a late 1960s magazine where a Chrysler product had the wrong panel welded inside the trunk and workers at the factory just punched a ragged hole for the tail-light wiring to go through. (At least that's the way it went with U.S. domestic product. People were astonished when Japanese cars were sold here and they would come through with few if any defects.)
Scotty, what do you think of Toyota's new ammonia-powered engine? Here's the article:
Uh oh. More oopsies by Toyota

Hi scotty!
so toyota has recalled a hundred thousand trucks and lexus suv's for the twin turbo v6 that you were telling people not to buy.
apparently theyre having a problem with machine dust being in the engine. guess people shouldve stuck with the tried and tested v8.
not really a question, just thought you might get a kick outa that
This has already been reported in the "News" topic. (Post moved.)
Hi Scotty,
Toyota is conducting a safety recall involving certain model year 2022–2023 Toyota Tundra and Lexus LX (conventional gas model only) vehicles in North America. Approximately, 102,000 Toyota and Lexus branded vehicles are involved in this recall in the U.S.
There is a possibility that certain machining debris may not have been cleared from the engine when it was produced. In the involved vehicles, this can lead to potential engine knocking, engine rough running, engine no start and/or a loss of motive power. A loss of motive power while driving at higher speeds can increase the risk of a crash. Also they asked the dealer not to sell any tundra anymore until further notice. https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-recalls-certain-model-year-2022-2023-toyota-tundra-and-lexus-lx-vehicles/
Please post these in the "News" topic . Thanks.
Thanks. Can you teach me about how I add it in the news?
just go to the page you're on right now ( https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/news) and post it at the bottom.
£2,500 fine and possible driving disqualification for letting ambulaces by in the UK by moving aside into a bus lane: https://www.gloucestershirelive.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/drivers-could-face-2500-fine-9283212?inf_contact_key=c97a222b5adf07d56ef04943c31e8573680f8914173f9191b1c0223e68310bb1
It's interesting to see where the UK government has it's priorities when a citizen is being rushed to hospital having a heart attack after waiting 9-16 hours for an ambulance and they're limited to 30mph because the car in front has no option on a straight with no turn offs and no u-turn.
DVLA to fine people in the UK for modifying their cars: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/dvla-fine-drivers-5060-failing-32776641
3 penalty point per modification (12 loses licence) and a £2,500 fine for such things as changing the suspension.
I think this is a pretty good idea. You see these bagged VIP vehicles that are obviously dangerous with half the wheel sitting on the road and 1" clearance from the ground. Thing is UK Youtube guys are saying they'll use it to get rid of old cars in a sense that you can't change anything from the original specification.
So say your MOT (annual inspection) garage reports you modify the car because you can't get original discontinued parts, or you have steel wheels because of potholes: then you either get the original or your car gets seized and crushed. All ties in with EU laws that want to make a car 'end of life' if it 'can't be repaired'.
Well I was bad enough when Fiat took over Jeep. Now it's the line it's and their quality is just garbage. They're just prostituting the Jeep name to sell crap. Many of them now are Italian made junk and they call them Jeeps
Hi Scotty.
The wheels are indeed quite literally coming off at Jeep. Seems there is a recall in Australia involving the new WL series Jeep.
"The upper control arm retaining bolts may have been damaged during vehicle assembly. This may cause the wheels to detach from the vehicle while driving, resulting in a loss of control. "
https://www.vehiclerecalls.gov.au/recalls/rec-005957
Seems a once great name like Jeep can't even make vehicles that the wheels don't fall off. Pretty basic requirement for a vehicle.
As a Jeep owner it pains me to read things like this. My Jeep hails from the Mercedes era and has been a decent vehicle.

It shows that even Toyota's quality is degrading. It seems that the only reliable vehicle left is a bicycle 🙂
Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I warned people about buying these twin turbo v6s. Now they're having the same problem that Honda has with their V6 engines eating bearings.
Thank you for your feedback: Toyota responded that only 100 Toyota Tundra built in beginning of 2022 the engine has failed, but now the information shows that the issue for Tundra 2022, 2023, and 2024 also the Lexus coming from Japan. That mean it is a design issue in the engine itself.
