A friend of mine recently moved to Japan.
The car in question is a 2017 Nissan March (produced in Thailand for the Japanese market) with a CVT.
He got this car practically free of charge. It has 45,360 miles (73000) and was used by Nissan-rent-a-car.
We drove around Japan in this car for the past 2 weeks.
During braking, the trasmission made what was felt as a jerk. This happened only once. Otherwise the car works normally.
Is this a sign of an impending problem? How much do these cars/trasmission typically last?

The Jatco CVTs used by Nissan are terrible and it is not unusual for them to fail early. To make the best of a bad situation change the fluid immediately and about every 30,000 miles afterwards - if it lasts that long.
