Truck was running fine, parked it, went on a trip of less than a week. After I came home it would not start. Just a relay clicking in the fuse box. This clicking is timed with the blinking of the anti-theft light on the dashboard. Happens when key is turned to On or Start. Also I notice a brief buzz from somewhere in the relay box when turning from ON to Start. Tested the starter relay with 12volt battery and multi-meter. It works fine. Continuity tested the 30A fuse for the relay. It works fine. Swapped relays with a couple other identical ones in the box, no change. No power to the s-terminal even with key turned. Starter works when I hotwire it.
Once I have help around the house again I will see if I can get it to run after hotwiring the starter. I will post the results here. Thanks ahead of time.
Well you have and then I thought problem either your key isn't working or the receiving unit has gone bad realize there are generally mobile locksmiths who do now work on those systems if you can find one
Agree with Scotty. Sounds like you did all the right testing for a possible starter. I would start looking at a possible immobilizer issue. Hook up a scan tool and see if there are any faults in the immobilizer module.
I did a bunch of googling and youtubing. I found it was a bad relay. I got upset about all the work I was going to have to do behind the steering wheel. I had seen a couple things online about bad relays and I started pulling them to test. The first one I pulled was the pcm relay. R203 according to the manual. It was slightly melted. I tested it and it was bad. It runs the pcm and sensors, fuel injectors, fuel pump. Full details are in the manual. I found in a forum someone suggesting that that can be a sign the fuel pump is going bad. So I bought 3 relays from the ford dealership for like $7.50 gonna keep extras in the glovebox. I hope this helps someone else some day. Thanks for your help all. Love your vids Scotty!
