Scotty, I recently bought a 85 ford F150. It's got a 5.8L V8 and it's got an automatic transmission. It is also four wheel drive. I bought it for 2500. It ran alright when I see over it home, but the next day I tried to start it and it wouldn't start, and still hasn't. Should I replace the carburetor? I'm also not sure of the mileage
Is gas getting to the carb? Fuel pump working? Fuel filter clogged? (When you work the throttle linkage you should be able to see the accelerator pump spraying gas in the venturis if there's any in the carb bowl.)
You could try spraying a little starting fluid down the carb throat before cranking. If the engine briefly fires up you have a fuel delivery problem. If it does not fire up at all you have no spark.
How much was it driven before, was it sitting perhaps?
Any info on it's background is helpful.
