Oil burning after 'Flush'

Hi, I have an Acura MDX 2012 with now 164K miles.

At 160K miles I did an oil change and since I had no idea what / how the previous owner did / use it. I decided to add the BG products ( https://a.co/d/5vKfhDy) the 'Flush' before doing the oil change, and then the other (MOA) I had the mechanic put in with the new oil.

I now noticed my car is 'losing oil) as a message popped up 'check engine oil level' a 2 months ago, I checked with dipstick, and then added another quart...

It now comes up with the same message again, so I guess it burns oil....

Now my question is, How should I proceed?

I'm thinking of doing a full oil change with filter and then after a couple hundred miles another oil change (so to have it 'clean'?.

I'm also thinking of replacing the PCV valve, though I have no idea really what it is / does.

What's your advice?

ThanksAbillion

now that it burns oil, should I just refill with a quart every time the alert comes on?

Scotty doesn't usually revisit topics he has already answered.

I would not wait for the alert. You never know when the sensor triggering it might go bad and the oil will get so low the engine will be damaged. Check the oil using the dipstick on a regular basis.

If you keep up with the oil burning the engine should be OK but your plugs might require more frequent replacement due to fouling and your catalytic converter may be poisoned over time.

Sadly you bought an oil burning car. Those are notorious for burning oil. If they weren't maintained correctly and you would have to rebuild the engine to fix that. Now go to an auto parts store. They can show you where the PCV valve is and pray it's stuck open. They don't cost much and that will suck oil in. But from my experience that those things is generally the piston rings that wear out inside the engine makes them burn well

@scottykilmer ok now that it burns oil, should I just refill with a quart every time the alert comes on?
