Hey Scotty,
I have a daily driven 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 with around 25k miles
I’ve read in some forums that it would be a good idea to add an oil catch can.
Everything is stock and I’ll get into the throttle from time to time..... is it really worth doing or am I just wasting my money?
Pretty low mileage for a daily driven 2017 ZL1 but I have a 2016 Camaro SS with 63k miles. Love my car best small/sports car I've ever owned. A catch can is a great idea especially if you are thinking on adding a high flow intake that chevrolet sells for the ZL1. See if GM makes one for the ZL1 they probably do by now.
However, even though its a good idea you don't need one, yeah they do build a lot of pressure, but remember the ZL1/Z06 is Chevrolets baby. They build this engine with a purpose. If the engineers felt like a catch can would help the engine a lot more in the long run. They would have just engineered one and add one to the car from factory.
You have a supercharged GDI engine (with no port injection), so it’s a good idea to install one. However, if you still have warranty (GM powertrain is 5 year/60,000 miles) on the vehicle it will void it. Just be mindful of that.
Here is a link below on why catch can is a good idea:
