So my friend has a 2009 Acura tl. Lately his car has been running rough. Poor fuel economy, shaking at idle, hesitation while accelerating and even stalled a couple times. He fail emissions 2 months before the check engine light came on..A montg later He threw a mil for catalytic converter, pre cat o2 and post cat o2. I used a thermal gun and front of the cat temp was 991 degrees f rear was 690 degrees f. He didn't want to buy a new cat yet so I told him to try Cataclean. We altered the instructions for best results possible.. We waited till he had less then 4 gallons of gas and car was a full operating temp. We added to tank and drove 15 minutes city and 15 minutes highway. We went back to his neighbor hood put car into low gear and drove around for 1 minute with rpms around 3700. Went to his house and let the car heat soak for 12 hours. Next day he got gas and drove for 35 miles on highway. He also did a few runs with heavy acceleration. When he got back to his house check engine light was off. I came over and checked the catalytic temp and it was 809 front 799 rear. He went for inspection yesterday and he passed. I cannot believe this stuff actually worked. When I told him to give it a shot it was a complete hail Mary
Thanks for sharing the info. The catalytic converter cleaners may or may not work depends on the conditions of the cat. If the cat is far way gone, it is unlikely that the cleaners work.
Most certainly. It's going to come down to condition. Even if cats condition isn't that bad theres still no guarantee it will work That's way I did it the way I did. I wanted to give it the best chance possible to work.

No problem. I feel details are important when doing stuff like this. It allows others to have a better chance of success. Granted the cat isn't beyond repair.
I also have 1 more thing to add. I just got off the phone with my friend he just told me his before and after fuel trims...... before Cataclean... stft +4.9 ltft +4.6 after Cataclean stft +1.3 ltft +0.9
It will not clear you cat and exhaust completely, I have used once and overtime seen results with lots of work

Nothing last forever and not everyone will have the same results. I've used 2 different brand years back and it did nothing at all. After posting this I was reading reviews online and some said it worked within hours later some said days. Then you had people who said it didn't work at all and it's complete garbage and snake oil. As stated earlier it all depends on the condition of the 😸😺🐈
