2003 GMC Safari, 120,000k, Auto. Cranks, but fuel pump doesn't energize, and fuel pump shows empty when full. Had new fuel pump and filter installed. No change. No spark either, & have not been able to find a wiring fault. I had checked all fuses and relays, all good. After having checked many, many things with different testers by (so-called) mechanics, I think it may be a bad PCM. I've looked online at some venders who sell programmed remanufactured (?) PCM's. Wading through all the customer reviews, I'm lost. Any recommendations to get a PCM?
Those PCM's rarely fail, but if you're absolutely sure that's what it is, then there should be plenty of them in junkyards. It will then need to be programmed to your vehicle with the right equipment and operator.
You can try asking around forums (chevroletforum, gmtnation, gmtruckclub etc.), checking Craigslist in your area for someone who can do it, or going to a auto diagnostic/tuning/electrical shop.
I would seriously think about if it's worth it for this 19 year old vehicle.
I understand what you're saying. These online remanufacturing places list them for this vehicle for around $200, programmed when sent the VIN. So I was just wanting to see if anyone has had experience with any of them. But I'll check around like you mention. Thanks.
$200 isn't too bad. Make sure it comes with a good guarantee
