I have a P0401 code on my ‘99 Mazda B2500. I’ve thought about deleting the EGR. What’s the best way to do it? Would it be better than replacing it? There’s no emissions testing where I live.

Deleting the EGR valve would require custom block off plates, gaskets and other parts which probably cost more than just replacing the valve.  Your engine would also run hotter without it.

You don't want to delete your EGR valve. It will eventually cause other problems. It'll eventually cause a catalytic converter problem (releases harmful nitrogen oxides) will mess with fuel economy, and could possibly cause the engine to run outside of its operating temperature over the long term. Try to clean yours, if it doesn't work, replace it.
