We have a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica touring L plus, automatic with 58,000 miles. I recently replaced spark plugs as routine maintenance which required upper and lower intake manifold removal. While removing I also cleaned the EGR valve. No check engine light prior to work.
Car is back together, runs smooth but check engine light is on with code P1404 - closed EGR valve performance. Cleared the code but it keeps popping right back up even without turning on the car! Tried the "EGR valve replaced" routine via advanced scanner but that didn't work.
Any help is much appreciated!
test EGR operation using a bidirectional scan tool. If it doesn't work then check the connection or replace as necessary.
Dear imperator,
Thank you very much. I just bought a bidirectional tool CG530 specific for Chrysler but either I haven't figured out the test function yet or the scanner was oversold with it's capabilities.
I just tested all the connectors and they seem ok. I'll have to dig deeper in the bidirectional scanner operation.
