I bought a 2020 honda fit* with automatic transmission but with a Sport mode which seems to be a legit manual mode.
The Honda's steering wheel has paddle shifters behind steering wheel. Left side downshift, right side upshift.
Should...I use the paddle shifters to downshift on turns or stops?
I know with a ordinary automatic transmission system, drivers are cautioned to never downshift with the lever. just let the brakes do their job, unless in an emergency. Scotty in a video was very clear about never to downshift using an automatic.
But with these steering wheel paddle shifters, i find it is fun and easy to slide down the gears and come to a fast stop .
Should i ignore the paddle shifters, and just let the automatic transmission do its thing?
*I bought, but returned, a defective Prius . wit a bad head gasket from carvana. bad experience!

Please provide a source.

Your vehicle is equipped with a CVT transmission with the paddle shifts simulating 7 steps. Use them however you like, whenever you like.
For best gas mileage, let the CVT do its own thing.
A Fit comes with paddle shifters? Crazy.
Most relatively new Hondas do. Even the first generation Fit had paddle shifts.
NFW. You can tell I drive old cars with my amazement by the Fit paddle shifters.

It's a CVT, no gears in there.

CVTs are super gentile - you don't want to interfere with the TCM logic at all.

Brake pads are less expensive than a transmission, trust me on that.

yea, the automatic knows best.
You may have a chance on not burning the start clutch that way!
(No torque convertor, on the fit it's a rigid mechanical connection between the engine and the road through a belt on cones... yikes!)

Why would you buy a used car in todays market? prices are horrid.
