Potential Transmission Slippage?

Hello Scotty, I am a big fan of your channel and have learned a lot from you.  But now I have a slight issue with my car.  I own a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis, it has the 4.6 L V8 Engine with automatic transmission with 135000 miles.  I've noticed that when I shift my car into Drive, it lags for a few seconds before shifting into gear.  I've also noticed that when I'm driving, my engine will rev up really high before it shifts.  This doesn't happen all the time but it happens just often enough that I'm concerned about it.  Is my transmission starting to slip?  And will I need to replace the transmission or is it as simple as adding transmission fluid?  Thank you for taking the time to look at my question.  Looking forward to any and all of your videos.

When did you last change your trans fluid and filter?

It's slipping. Check fluid level and condition. (Also see the FAQ section on changing transmission fluid.)

it lags for a few seconds before shifting into gear

sounds like low fluid pressure.
