Scotty,

recently got rid of 2013 maxima for a 2011 Infiniti M37x with lower miles. Driven it roughly a 1k miles now. It seems like the transmission is confused at times as to what gear it should be in. For example going up a hill and it decides to go in a higher gear and can be sluggish unless you really get on it.is it a transmission mechanical issues, or maybe the computer which controls it? Is this a known problem with these cars: Vehicle had 59k miles.

Most Nissan products and Nissan makes Infiniti have weak automatic transmissions but that's awful low mileage.if I were you I would go to a dealer and see if there's any type of reprogramming available for transmission shifting often that can help such a problem

Fyi ,  Was on the phone with one of my Infiniti dealerships in Michigan and they said that there is a software update for my 2010 EX35 awd Journey for similar issue with no code or check engine light. Transmission shifts smooth otherwise so definitely could fix. I'll update after.

Also when you are going up hill the manual states to give the car full throttle. These vehicles learn our driving styles and it does take a while to get use to the way the car feels as well. Almost as if the car is smarter than the driver at times. Just drive the car like you stole it. 😆 ... If you drive light footed it will adapt to that and shifting will seem to change. I use the manual or sport mode more now which takes almost all lag or hesitation away and is a bullet. After cleaning my mass air flow censors and throttle bodies she is even more roaring to go. I personally have to get software or firmware update still but you may not if you fins it was just the car and you learning one another still.
