Question about tire pressure monitor

Hi Scotty

I have a question for you. I recently had my tires rotated on my 2016 Camry and noticed they had to kick one of the tires loose and my TPMS light came on. Do you think that could've possibly caused it to break or malfunction? They cost about $50 to replace as they must be programmed.  I've had them go out before and told they malfunction over time like any other part. It's nice to have to alert for leaks until they stop working. Thanks

Yes. One of the employees could have busted the TPMS sender in one of the wheels. That happened to me. One time, Walmart replaced a tire for me. I drove it home, the TPMS light came on, I saw the valve stem on the wheel with the new tire was different from the others. One of their employees had broken the original and tried to use a universal sensor and the TPMS computer wouldn't accept the universal sensor.  I ended up taking the car to a dealer to have the correct sensor replaced and computer updated.  I brought the bill to Walmart and they refunded me the cost of taking the car to a dealer.

Well if they really whacked it yeah they could have broken the sensor. But realize on many cars. If you rotate the tires, you also have to reprogram the TPMS system
